Buying Group Questions
What is EnPowered?
EnPowered is an OEB-licensed energy firm that provides free energy audits to large gas and electricity consumers, finding them thousands in savings, including $850,000 per year for one of our customers.
We offer all our services with no upfront costs and no cancellation fees. So far, we have found savings for every large business we work with.

How do EnPowered Energy Audits work?
Similar to how an accountant is able to find savings in your taxes, EnPowered can find savings in your energy bills. We have dozens of different solutions that we can use, but the actual solutions used for you will be customized to your business. These solutions will then be presented to you and, when accepted, we will track and report your savings on a monthly basis.
How much can my business save with you?
The actual amount that you will save depends on a variety of factors, including: your usage, your business type, your rate class, your peak demand, your utility, etc. The purpose of our free Energy Audit is precisely to establish how much we can save you. Our current customers are savings up to 60%, and we are always looking for more savings opportunities for each of our clients.
This sounds too good to be true. What is the catch?
There is none. We have found dozens of unique methods to save our customers money on their energy bills, and all we take is a percentage of actual savings.
What makes EnPowered different from my current consultant?
We are not just an average energy consultant, EnPowered offers a comprehensive suite of innovative solutions to maximize your savings. For example, we have built advanced analytics and computer models which allows us to predict market demand up to two weeks in advance, far out-performing others in the market.
How do I avoid scams in the industry?
Unfortunately there are many scams in the industry, thankfully the Ontario Energy Board collects consumer complaints so that you can see which companies are trustworthy. This link shows all of the companies that have received consumer complaints since 2011 in number of complaints per 1000 customers. We do not appear on the list as we have never received a complaint. For those of you currently locked in an electricity contract, we would recommend reading this article about how to negotiate out.
Why do you need my bill?
The reason EnPowered requires your bill is so that we can run analytics and determine the best solutions for you out of our entire toolset. We need previous usage information to figure out what will work best.
How long does the Energy Audit take?
The Energy Audit takes just three days to complete. We will work hard to make sure that you can start saving as soon as possible.
How much does it cost to get started?
Nothing. We only earn a portion of your savings once you start to see them on your bills, and we do this on a monthly basis. No paying for anything in advance — ever.
Does this still work if I am already on a contract?
Yes. We are compatible with other retailers, and the services we offer with our Energy Audit go far beyond what an electricity retailer would offer.
Do I have to leave my utility?
No. You stay with your utility and we work with them to find you the most optimal solutions that are the best fit for you.
Where do you operate?
We currently cover all of Ontario. We have plans to expand in North America very soon, so stay tuned if we do not cover your service area quite yet.
What's in it for you? How do you make money?
We only take a percentage of your monthly savings. As a result, we are incentivized to find as much savings as possible, and to continue looking for additional savings.
What if you can't find any savings for me?
To date, we have found savings for every large business we work with. Since EnPowered takes a percentage of your savings, in the unlikely case that the expected savings do not arise, you would naturally not owe EnPowered anything.
How do I know precisely how much I'm saving?
Here at EnPowered, we are committed to transparency. In that spirit, we will provide you with a monthly energy report outlining precisely how much you saved that month. We would earn a percentage of this actual savings, not an estimated annual savings.
What if I have more questions?
Please get in touch with us here. We are happy to answer any questions you may have and aim to respond within 24 hours.
How do I know if I can switch? What if I'm renting at my location?
If you are the account holder, spouse, or the authorized agent and you pay the bills directly then you can join an EnPowered buying-group. If you don't pay the bills you won't be able to benefit. For example, if your utilities are included in your rent and your landlord or property management group pays the monthly bill then you will not be able to join.
Does it cost me anything to join an EnPowered buying-group?
It is completely free to join an EnPowered buying-group, there are no fees to join the group or set-up costs whatsoever.
How long does it take for my energy costs to change?
It depends on your utility, but you should see your new rate reflected on your bill within 2 billing cycles (it takes time to change your account details in the utility billing systems).
How will my energy service change if I join the buying-group?
The only thing that changes is the price you pay, your energy will continue to flow as it always has. All the billing, maintenance and emergency services will always be conducted by your local utility.
What happens if I am already on a contract with another retailer?
If you are currently signed up to another Retailer contract but would like to join the EnPowered buying-group, there is a chance that your current Retailer might charge you a cancellation fee. You will have to contact your current Retailer to understand their cancellation policies.
How do I get out of my current contract?
If you are currently on another retailer's contract, you will need to read your contract and contact your supplier to understand their cancellation policies. For those customers in Ontario, you can read our article on how you can minimize or avoid cancellation fees here.
What happens if there is a problem with my energy? Who do I call?
If you have any issues with your service, you should reach out to your local utility.
How does this work?
